The researchers studied how organic matter breaks down in a large composting facility by measuring CO2 release. They found that organic matter degradation increased more at the beginning of composting than later on. The compost made from garbage and animal manure reached 78% degradation, while the one from distillery waste reached 55%. Both compost types helped plant growth without inhibiting seed germination.
