Plantar Pressure Reveals Balance Issues in Those with Ankle Instability
The study looked at how fatigue in the lower leg affects the balance of people with ankle instability. They tested 30 university students, some with unstable ankles and some with stable ankles. After jumping on one leg, those with ankle instability had higher pressure on the front and side of their foot compared to those with stable ankles. Their balance was also more affected by fatigue, with their center of pressure moving further after jumping. This shows that ankle instability and leg fatigue can impact how people balance.
