New model accurately predicts sediment transport rates, improving coastal management.
A numerical model was created to predict how sand moves along the shore. The model considers sand carried by waves and currents. It was tested with different flow conditions and found to be accurate. The model showed that a commonly used formula overestimates how much sand moves along the shore.
