Gender affects job prestige ratings more than actual job resources.
The study measured the prestige of men's and women's jobs and how gender affects this. They had people rate 110 jobs, finding that occupation is the main factor in job prestige. The gender of the person in the job affects how people rate the job, with householders making distinctions based on gender while college students do not. The gender composition of raters also influences how they rate jobs. Overall, the perceived prestige of a job is not related to the actual resources of the job.
