Researchers designed a trickling filter to get rid of bad smells from septic tanks by measuring hydrogen sulfide levels. They found that the filter could remove up to 99.9% of the hydrogen sulfide when operating optimally. The amount of cooked food and temperature affected how much hydrogen sulfide was removed.
