New Equation Predicts Soil Water Absorption Rate Based on Properties.
Soil in northeastern China was studied to understand how it holds and absorbs water. By analyzing 50 soil samples, researchers found a new equation to predict how soil retains moisture. This equation is based on the size of soil particles, organic matter, and micro-aggregate content. They also discovered an equation to calculate how quickly soil absorbs water, which depends on the soil's surface area, organic matter, and particle size. These findings help us better understand how soil stores and releases water, which is important for managing water in the soil-plant-atmosphere system.
