Chinese language learners in Australia show native-like word associations over time.
The study looked at how Australian learners of Chinese as a second language connect words in their minds. They found that these learners mostly link words based on meaning, like native Chinese speakers. As the learners get better at Chinese, their word connections become more similar to those of native speakers. The way CSL learners connect words is different from how ESL learners do it. This research can help improve how CSL vocabulary is taught and learned.
