Integrated potassium management boosts maize-wheat crop yields and soil nutrients.
A study was done to see how adding potassium to maize and wheat crops affects their growth. They used a mix of muriate of potash and farmyard manure. Adding potassium increased the grain and straw yield of both crops. The best results came from using 60 kg of potassium from muriate of potash and 30 kg from farmyard manure. This led to higher grain and straw yields compared to not adding any potassium. Using farmyard manure also increased nutrient uptake and availability in the soil.
