Water reforms and dry seasons threaten rice farming in NSW.
The report describes different rice farming systems in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area of NSW. Three common farming systems were studied and their financial and biological characteristics were analyzed. The study also looked at how sensitive these farming systems are to changes in water availability, which is a major concern for farmers in the area. Factors like water reforms and dry seasons from 2002 to 2004 were found to impact water availability for these farming systems.
