New Rice Crossbreeding Technique Boosts Seed Yield Under Late Sown Conditions.
The researchers studied how different rice plants combine to produce high yields under late planting conditions. They crossed seven lines with three testers to create 21 new combinations. They found that some parent plants had a positive effect on seed yield, and five of the crosses were particularly good at producing seeds. The combinations of specific lines and testers were more important than the individual plants for most traits, except for flag leaf width.
