Soil conservation management reduces water erosion by over 40% on Loess Plateau.
The study compared water erosion in two small watersheds on the Loess Plateau, one with soil and water conservation management and one without. The watershed with management had reduced runoff times by 42.86% and lower annual runoff compared to the watershed without management. Runoff started later and peak flow occurred later in the managed watershed. Overall, the management practices helped decrease runoff and erosion in the watershed.
