New mungbean study reveals key traits for higher yield success!
The researchers studied different mungbean varieties to see how they vary in seed yield and other traits. They found that seed yield per plant had the most variation, followed by pods per plant, plant height, branches per plant, and seed weight. Most traits were strongly inherited, except for days to flower and pod length. Traits like seed yield, pods per plant, and plant height were less affected by the environment. Seed yield per plant was positively linked to pods per plant, plant height, harvest index, and grains per pod.
