Optimizing phosphorus and zinc boosts cowpea yield and quality significantly.
The study looked at how different levels of phosphorus and zinc affected the growth and yield of fodder cowpea plants. They found that applying 60 kg/ha of phosphorus and 20 kg/ha of zinc sulfate improved plant growth and increased green fodder yield. The combination of these two nutrients had a significant impact on the yield, dry matter production, and nutrient uptake of the cowpea plants. However, using higher levels of phosphorus and zinc than 60 kg/ha and 20 kg/ha respectively led to a decrease in yield and nutrient uptake.
