Drought stress impacts Musa varieties' photosynthesis, revealing potential crop challenges.
The study looked at how different types of banana plants respond to drought stress by measuring their leaf color, chlorophyll content, and photosynthesis rates. They found that under drought conditions, the leaves of the plants changed color and lost chlorophyll. The photosynthesis rates decreased as the drought stress increased, with one variety showing the largest decrease. The plants with lower chlorophyll content were less resistant to drought. Overall, the study ranked the banana varieties in terms of drought resistance as 'Fenjiao', 'Diwangjiao', and 'Brazil'.
