ICSI boosts IVF success rates, overcoming previous fertilization limitations.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can help improve fertilization problems in previous IVF cycles. Researchers studied 136 cycles in 113 patients, with some using ICSI due to male factor and others due to past fertilization issues. Both groups had similar rates of normal fertilization, good quality embryos, and clinical pregnancy. In the group with previous fertilization problems, most cycles had a fertilization rate above 50%, with an average rate of almost 80%. This shows that ICSI can be effective in overcoming fertilization limitations from previous IVF attempts.
