China's Monsoon Expansion Promises Increased Rainfall and Flooding Risks
The study looked at how rainfall in China might change in the future. They used data from 46 models to see how well they could predict past rainfall patterns. Then, they picked 18 models to predict future changes in rainfall under a specific scenario. The results suggest that in the 21st century, the area covered by monsoon rains in China will increase, leading to more rainfall. This increase is mainly due to the expansion of the monsoon area. The conditions in the future will support heavier rainfall and more water vapor moving into eastern China, causing the monsoon area to grow.
