New method turns rice straw into energy goldmine, revolutionizing waste recycling!
Producing bioenergy from rice straw can help recycle agricultural waste and create new energy. By using hydrochloric acid pretreatment, researchers optimized conditions to increase the amount of sugar that can be extracted from rice straw. The best conditions were a temperature of 133.80 ℃, HCl concentration of 7.28%, and a time of 51.12 minutes. Under these conditions, the total reducing sugar concentration was 549.42mg·g-1, which was 6.01 times higher than from untreated rice straw. This shows that using HCl pretreatment is important for getting more sugar from rice straw.
