Newly Discovered Microorganisms Boost Phosphate Levels for Sustainable Agriculture
Italian ryegrass rhizosphere microorganisms were studied for their ability to solubilize phosphate. 41 strains were tested, with 13 able to solubilize inorganic phosphate and 28 able to solubilize organic phosphate. Some strains showed significantly higher phosphate-solubilizing abilities. The pH of the medium affected inorganic phosphate solubilization, but not organic phosphate solubilization. These findings suggest potential agricultural applications for certain strains in microbiological fertilizers.
