Failed IVF? Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection Offers New Hope for Pregnancy!
Researchers investigated using a technique called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) to help fertilize human eggs after traditional IVF failed. They tried ICSI on 106 eggs that didn't fertilize in previous IVF attempts. Out of these, 75 eggs successfully fertilized and 69 developed into embryos. Some embryos were frozen, thawed, and implanted in women after assisted hatching. 38 embryos were successfully transferred to 11 women, resulting in one twin pregnancy and one biochemical pregnancy. The overall pregnancy rate was 18.2%. This study shows that ICSI can be effective in fertilizing eggs that didn't work with traditional IVF, leading to successful pregnancies with frozen embryos.
