A new type of Fisher discriminant function has been developed to improve upon existing methods. This new approach combines different discriminant functions in a more efficient way, resulting in a set of orthogonal discriminant vectors that perform similarly to previous methods but with less computational complexity. Experiments using facial recognition databases have shown that this new method aligns well with theoretical predictions.
