A new type of japonica rice called E203 was created through radiation treatment. E203 has better grain quality than its parent plants and other high-quality rice varieties. It also has higher yield and is more resistant to a common rice disease. This study shows that using radiation can improve the quality of rice, and E203 could be a valuable resource for growing better rice in the future.
