Chilling under low light inhibits photosynthesis in tomato leaves.
Chilling tomato plants under low light reduces their ability to photosynthesize, but shading them during recovery helps them bounce back. The plants exposed to natural sunlight after chilling showed improved photosynthesis and chlorophyll activity, while shaded plants maintained higher levels of protection against light stress. This study suggests that light intensity plays a crucial role in the recovery of plants after chilling, with shading providing a beneficial effect on their photosynthetic performance.
