Agricultural activities threaten wetland water quality in China's Sanjiang Plain.
The study looked at water quality in wetlands in the small Sanjiang Plain, China. They found that organic and eutrophication pollutants were the main threats to water quality. Wetlands near agriculture had higher pollution levels, while rivers and riparian wetlands were less polluted. The size of wetlands and surrounding land use had a big impact on water quality. Riparian wetlands played a key role in keeping rivers clean in the area.
