The study analyzed the connection between economic growth and environmental quality in Qinghai from 1998 to 2008. By looking at GDP per person and industrial waste emissions, they found that the relationship between economic growth and environmental quality in Qinghai does not follow a typical pattern. To improve both the economy and the environment, it is suggested to focus on developing a circular economy.
