Human interventions in India amplify water resource impacts of climate change.
Climate change impacts on India's water resources are complex due to extensive human interventions. These interventions in the Energy-Land-Water-Climate nexus greatly affect the country's water sources. Human activities in the landscape can either enhance, hide, or exaggerate the effects of climate change. Uncertainties in climate and resource assessments make it challenging to distinguish between global climate change impacts and regional human interventions. To address this, an integrated approach is needed to understand the interconnections in the ELWC nexus. Research efforts should focus on incorporating these linkages into climate and earth system models.
