Researchers studied how to estimate the leaf area of summer maize plants using remote sensing. They compared different vegetation indexes to find the best one for predicting leaf area. They found that the R_(810)/R_(560) index was highly correlated with leaf area and could accurately forecast its variation. The regression model they developed had a high accuracy rate of about 95.63% to 98.47%.
