New tillage methods impact soil quality and water content in drylands.
Different tillage methods were studied to see how they affect soil properties in dryland farming. All-straw-returning tillage didn't change soil compaction much but reduced soil infiltration. No-till with straw mulching increased soil compaction and reduced soil infiltration and temperature. Shallow rotary treatment improved soil compaction and infiltration, increasing water content by 10% in comparison to conventional tillage.
