The Three Gorge Reservoir affects the water levels of Lake Poyang wetlands during different periods. By using a hydrodynamic model, researchers found that decreasing the Yangtze River discharge after the flood season can lower the lake level by 0.09-1.11m, while increasing it before the flood season can raise the level by 0.15-0.94m. The impact of the reservoir varies across the lake, with the northern part experiencing more significant changes in water levels.
