Super-high-yield maize boosts crop nutrient uptake for increased harvests!
The study looked at how a high-yield type of summer maize grows compared to a common type. They found that the high-yield maize accumulates more dry matter and nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The high-yield maize also distributes these nutrients differently in its stems, leaves, grains, and roots. The high-yield maize takes up nutrients faster and keeps doing so even after the flowering stage. Adding more nutrients after flowering is important for getting a higher yield.
