Land-use changes boost soil and water conservation in Loess Plateau.
The study looked at how changes in land use and soil and water conservation measures affect the environment in the Loess Plateau hilly and gully region. By analyzing satellite images and data, researchers found that increasing woodland and terrace areas in certain watersheds led to better soil and water conservation. However, the reduction of slope farmland and shrub/grassland areas also had an impact. Overall, socio-economic factors were the main drivers of these changes.
