A method was developed to plan product platforms using axiomatic design and Sensitivity Design Structure Matrix. The goal was to reduce subjectivity in platform design by identifying common parameters and optimizing their solutions. By using this method, designers can create scalable platforms more effectively. An example of designing an automatic bookbinding machine platform showed that the method works well.
