Study reveals which trees are best for water conservation in Inner Mongolia
Researchers studied water conservation functions of different types of vegetation in Daqing Mountain, Inner Mongolia. They found that Larix principis-rup prechtii has the strongest water conservation function, followed by Pinus tabulaeformis and Betula platyphylla. Larix principis-rup prechtii has the highest water-holding capacity in its litter, while Betula platyphylla's soil retains more water. Canopy interception is highest in Pinus tabulaeformis.
