A new method called generalized histogram equalization was used to enhance color images. This method improves on traditional histogram equalization by modifying the gray image histogram to create a more effective histogram for color images. The enhancement process takes place in the HSV color space. Experimental results show that this new method produces better results than the traditional histogram equalization method for enhancing color images.
