Banana Stalks Transformed into Sustainable Fuel, Boosting Green Energy Revolution
The researchers explored how treating banana stalks with steam could break down their components. They tested different pressures and times to see how well this method worked. Results showed that with 3.5MPa pressure for 4 minutes, hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin in banana stalks degraded by 67.29%, 18.99%, and 55.40%, respectively. Overall, the content was degraded by 34.41%. This means steam explosion can effectively break down cellulose and significantly reduce hemicellulose and lignin in banana stalks, making the process eco-friendly and efficient.
