New single-tank system achieves optimal removal of nitrogen and phosphorus.
A new single-tank system was tested for removing nitrogen and phosphorus efficiently. By adjusting the hydraulic retention time (HRT) and solids retention time (SRT), the system achieved stable removal of organic matter and high removal rates for ammonium and phosphorus. The best results were seen with an HRT of 8 hours and an SRT of 15 days. The system consistently produced effluent with low COD levels and high removal rates for ammonium and phosphorus, making it effective for wastewater treatment.
