Lei Bamboo Boosts Soil Health and Carbon Fixation for Sustainable Agriculture
The study looked at how soil organic matter changes in Lei bamboo fields over time. They found that when paddy fields were converted to Lei bamboo, organic matter decreased initially but increased significantly with organic material mulching. The added organic matter was stable and accounted for 23.8% of the input. This shows that intensive management in Lei bamboo fields can help stabilize soil organic matter, which is good for trapping carbon.
