Enhancing Product Quality Through Robust Conceptual Design Innovations
The article discusses how improving the robustness of a product's conceptual design is crucial for enhancing product quality. By applying the theory of Axiomatic design, the researchers developed two theorems: robustness functions and robustness through compensation. They used the example of designing a Full Face Rock Tunnel Boring Machine to demonstrate the application of these theorems. The results showed that enhancing the robustness of conceptual design provides a stable foundation for subsequent design stages, leading to better product quality.
