Rainfall triggers rapid slope failures, endangering infrastructure near Loufangshan Tunnel.
The study looked at how rainfall affects the stability of gravel soil slopes near Loufangshan Tunnel. By simulating different levels of water content, researchers found that as water increases, slope stability decreases gradually at first, then rapidly. This is because rainwater can wash away fine-grained soil in the lower part of the slope, leading to slumping and eventual slope failure.
