New wind farm assessment reveals high potential for renewable energy generation.
The wind energy potential of Huashanguan wind farm was assessed by analyzing wind data from 2005 to 2008. The average wind speed ranged from 5.5 to 5.7m/s, with a wind power density of 190-205 W/m2 and an annual effective wind speed of 80.8-82.3%. The dominant wind direction at the farm differed from the secondary direction, with concentrated energy in the dominant direction. The wind power density at different heights was valuable for development. The wind observations were influenced by the climate, with average wind speeds lower than long-term averages.
