Spraying sucrose boosts sugar content in blueberries, enhancing flavor and nutrition.
Spraying sucrose on blueberry plants can increase the sugar content in the fruits. Two blueberry varieties were studied, and it was found that spraying a 0.5% sucrose solution led to the highest increase in sugar content. The total sugar content in leaves increased steadily during fruit development, with glucose and fructose accumulating in ripe fruits. The relationship between sugar content in leaves and fruits was significant, showing that spraying sucrose can boost sugar levels in blueberry fruits.
