Cutting frequency boosts plant regrowth, increases pasture yields and biodiversity.
The study looked at how cutting frequency affects the regrowth of perennial ryegrass and white clover in mixed pastures. They found that cutting can help both plants grow back, maintain a good balance between them, and increase overall pasture yield. Cutting in June led to more ryegrass regrowth, while cutting in August favored white clover growth. The proportion of ryegrass and white clover in the total yield changed slightly over three years of cutting, but overall, cutting helped both plants thrive together.
