Inland Strong Winds Defy Norms, Bridge Safety at Risk!
The researchers studied wind patterns at a bridge site in complex inland terrain to understand how wind affects structures. They compared strong inland winds and coastal typhoons, finding differences in wind parameters. By analyzing wind speed data from Longmen Yellow River Bridge, they discovered that wind speed and direction follow monsoon patterns and vary by region. Wind attack angles are larger in inland areas due to topography. Turbulence and gust factors differ from standard values, decreasing with higher wind speeds. Turbulence intensity and gust factor are between 0.103-0.13 and 1.22-1.39, respectively. Wind spectral fitting requires different formulas for different frequency regions.
