Saline water irrigation in desert forests leads to soil salinity increase.
The study looked at how salt levels in soil change when drip-irrigated with salty water in a desert area in China. They tested five different levels of salty water. The more salt in the water, the saltier the soil became. The main salts found were Cl-, Na+, and SO42-. Some salts spread evenly in the soil, while others moved up or down. This information can help us use salty water better for growing trees in dry areas.
