New Study Reveals How Plant Hormones Impact Fruit Pigment Development
The study looked at how different treatments affected the pigments in the peel of Cara cara oranges. They found that the levels of chlorophyll and carotenoid in the peel changed during fruit development, reaching their highest levels at different times. Treating the oranges with ABA made the chlorophyll break down faster and stopped carotenoids from building up. On the other hand, treating them with GA3 slowed down the breakdown of chlorophyll and stopped carotenoids from forming.
