Enormous sediment load in Changjiang River impacting coastal ecosystems and communities.
The Changjiang River carries a lot of sediment that varies throughout the year. The sediment concentration and transport near the river mouth change with tides and seasons. The North Channel is the main route for sediment to reach the sea. Most sediment settles near the South Branch entrance and forms a delta in the sea. Sediment from the river spreads eastward between 122°30'E and 123°E.
