Enclosure boosts soil quality in natural restoration, enhancing carbon and nitrogen levels.
The study looked at how soil in a sandy meadow changes as it naturally restores over time. Enclosing the area helped improve the soil's physical and chemical properties. Over the years, the soil's composition shifted, with more fine particles and clay in the top layer. Organic carbon and nitrogen levels increased during the restoration process. As the soil got harder, its bulk density decreased. The more carbon and nitrogen in the soil, the more fine particles and clay it contained, but fewer coarse particles.
