Cross-pollination of kiwifruit leads to bigger, sweeter, and firmer fruits!
Researchers studied how different types of pollen affect the growth of kiwifruit. They used four pollinators to pollinate three female kiwifruit plants and observed the effects on fruit development. They found that cross-pollinated fruits had differences in size, shape, firmness, and sweetness compared to self-pollinated fruits. Different combinations of pollen and female plants also led to varying results. Overall, the type of pollen used significantly influenced the characteristics of the kiwifruit.
