China's Real Estate Security Laws Need Major Overhaul After U.S. Crisis.
Real estate mortgage securitization is a way to turn individual mortgage loans into securities that can be traded. The US subprime mortgage crisis in 2007 caused a global financial crisis, leading to China improving its laws and regulations on real estate mortgage securitization. However, China's current laws are not enough to ensure safe and efficient securitization. China needs to enhance its legal supervision of real estate securities to prevent similar crises.
