Wastewater Recycling Transforms Coal Industry, Slashing Freshwater Consumption by 240,000 Tons Annually
A new method was suggested to reuse wastewater in a coal-based process. The researchers created a plan that recycles wastewater for coal gasification, methanol synthesis, and propylene production. They found that the coal gasification temperature remained stable, and the composition of the synthesis gas was not significantly affected by contaminants. The plant could save up to 240,000 tons of freshwater per year with this approach.
