A study tested different ways to grow hybrid rice to increase yield. They found that using a specific combination of planting density, nitrogen application rate, seedling age at transplanting, and proportion of nitrogen used as basal fertilizer led to the best results. The recommended method for growing rice in Chongqing Region includes using 105 kg of nitrogen per hectare, with 70% applied as basal fertilizer, a planting density of 120,000 hills per hectare, and transplanting seedlings at the 3.5-leaf stage.
